Let's Sing Together

This song was made about 1996 and performed many times over the years in smaller settings and a contest or two. Recorded it in the spring of 2018 with a friend who plays fiddle, another on drums and one on piano. Another friend put it into an animated video.. so lucky to have such talented friends!

Have been doing this as an interactive song with the audience helping with the Rooster calls.. so much fun. Usually have it so that someone wins some kind of prize for participating. I also give a bit of an intro of how i came about making the song. Had a broken neck at the time.. and was a bit bored. As I walked by the roosters who were quietly roosting on the radio as it was evening by then, i said "you can stand upon my shoulders and crow out to the world, but if you peck my eyes or ears, I'll drop you in the snow" .. the song evolved from there. I really was not worried about the roosters, just being creative with my time. All three birds were named after horses we had at one time. The roosters Dandy and Commanche eventually disappear.. presumably gone via coyote or dog. One day i found Sundance with barely any feathers left. He died in my arms. I am sure he gave a fight to whatever attached him and realize he was trying to defend the farm and his family in his own way. I laughed a lot when hearing of his antics, because he never had attacked me. The laughs were meant to lighten things up and have had much mutual fun with the song. Have also heard of other stories of roosters since!

An extra big thanks to the audio sponsor for this song: www.jimripley.ca We also have it in karaoke form. Planning to have this in French as well.

Another special thank you to Fred Spencer for his hard work putting the video together. Charmaine Miron, the fiddle player, acted as an impromptu midwife the night before the recording! all the artists were amazing.. but had to put that special feat in this thank you.. what is a fun country song without the fiddle player!
