Roy Rogers was my hero growing up. I would rush home on my bike during the lunch hour, to watch his reruns on tv. I mostly loved watching him ride his horse Trigger, but he would sing in each episode too, including the opening song "Happy Trails to you." I started making this song at least a decade ago, but recently (June 2022) gave it a big makeover, including some chorus changes and added verses.

the pain did not end, the fact that he threw me! Did he not know I was his friend?
Since then I’ve had, many more falls. You can bet , I can’t remember them all
Most weren’t from his being mad at me, they were more from his being happy or scared of some thing a magiggy!

The girl who sold Shel to me was probably afraid of him so sold him for a song; I like to sing, so in between falls we mostly got along
I think there is only one time I didn’t get back on after hitting the dirt. That is only because practically every inch of me hurt!
He could be sweet but he had a wild side that could sprout from the blue. He was not reliable for paying trailrides so I sold him to someone who learned to love him too!

He grounded me in many ways, I learned from him a lot. You don’t get a degree for the education that I got
